New BCGA national president to showcase opportunities

Tim Hulbert The British Compressed Gases Association (BCGA) new national president

The British Compressed Gases Association (BCGA) has elected a new national president to build on the trade body’s strong foundations - and shape a strong voice for the future.

Tim Hulbert, Air Products Vice President and General Manager of Industrial Gases in the UK and Ireland, has been appointed to the role under a two-year term of office.

During his presidency, Mr Hulbert will highlight the significant contribution compressed gases make to the UK’s economy and environment as part of the BCGA’s ‘Invisible Industry’ strategy, which promotes a positive understanding of the sector.

He has also pledged to amplify the industry’s opportunities, to attract future talent.

Mr Hulbert said: “In my role with the BCGA, I’ll be focusing on bringing what we do to life to keep making the ‘Invisible Industry’ more visible, by showcasing how we improve the environment and make the world more productive.

“One of the biggest challenges for our industry is to attract the talent of the future to our industry.

“We need to promote to the next generation of engineers, scientists, safety specialists, project managers and business developers that our industry offers the variety, opportunity and fulfilment they are looking for.”

Mr Hulbert takes over the national president’s role from Tony Edwards, former MD of Luxfer Gas Cylinders.

He will work alongside BCGA chief executive, Doug Thornton.
