As part of its goal to become a world leader in eco-conscious hand protection solutions, Unigloves has launched a brand-new sustainable glove range manufactured using recycled plastics.
The new Nitrex RP sustainable glove range offers protective performance including mechanical, cut and impact protection, whilst reducing the use of virgin oil-based polyesters, water, CO2 and plastic packaging.
Ideally suited to industrial sectors including automotive, glass, construction, engineering and transport and logistics, where cut and abrasion risks are prevalent, every product in the new range is tested and certified to EN388.
Each of the gloves in the range also feature the Recycled Claim Standard – associated with products containing recycled materials, requiring each stage of production to be certified, beginning at the recycling stage and ending at the final business-to-business transaction for the end product.
In addition to being manufactured using recycled plastics from bottles and food containers, every glove within the new Nitrex RP range is also certified to the OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 confirming that every component of the product, from the fabric to the thread and accessories, has been rigorously tested against a list of up to 350 toxic chemicals.
This means these gloves are not only kinder to the planet but contain no harmful substances that could impact workers’ health.
In addition to offering high levels of comfort and flexibility, the use of durable palm coatings including environmentally friendly water-based PU and nitrile, allows enhanced dexterity and flexibility to reduce hand fatigue. Four gloves out of the five within the range are also touch screen compatible.
Further features available on selected gloves within the range, include Unigloves’ NitreGuard and NitreGrip technology, delivering higher levels of cut and grip performance respectively. Unigloves has also teamed up with climate action organisation Ecologi, showing their commitment to neutralising any emissions they cannot avoid related to the new Nitrex RP range, by funding projects that remove carbon directly from the atmosphere.
In addition to this, they have partnered with Plastic Bank, which builds recycling ecosystems in under-developed communities in an effort to fight both plastic pollution in oceans, as well as high poverty levels in developing countries.
Unigloves’ MD Chris Wahlers said: “We are really excited to be launching our new sustainable Nitrex RP glove range, which is a great addition to our biodegradable BioTouch disposable range. Each pair of gloves contains recycled plastic and plastic free packaging, reducing our manufacturing carbon footprint.
“Designed first and foremost to stand up to the physical rigors of industrial environments, the development of the new Nitrex RP range also demonstrates our commitment to become a leader in eco conscious hand protection solutions.”
“We understand that our customers are increasingly concerned about protecting the health of the planet and their workers, which is why we’ve developed a range of environmentally friendly safety gloves, certified to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100.
“Unigloves holds sustainability at the heart of our business. We care about the community along with the environment and hold that at the forefront of thought for any new product innovation, which is also underlined by funding additional projects to benefit the environment including Ecologi and Plastic Bank,” added Chris.
