Second RoSPA President’s Award for Ian Williams

Second RoSPA President’s Award for Ian Williams

Ian Williams has achieved the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) President’s Award for its health and safety practices for a second time.

Presented as a result of Ian Williams having received 11 consecutive Gold Awards, the coveted President’s Award celebrates consistently high levels of performance in occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Richard Parry, Safety, Health and Environmental Manager for Ian Williams commented: “When we were awarded the President’s Award last year, we were delighted, but now to get it again for the second year in a row, it’s even more of an honour and a fantastic endorsement of our sustained approach to health and safety across the organisation.

“With over 800 employees, many of whom are working in potentially dangerous situations caused by building sites, gas, electric and working from heights, it’s critical that we put health and safety above all else. It’s our job to ensure that working conditions are as safe as possible day in, day out. Winning this 11th RoSPA Gold award and hence our second President’s Award is proof that we’re achieving just this. We will continue to maintain these high standards and strive for even better practices, keeping health and safety at the forefront of everything we do.”

Mike Turner, Ian Williams’ Executive Director added: “Winning our second President’s Award is an exceptional achievement by all concerned and a particular thank you to Richard Parry for his leadership in helping us to attain this. It’s especially important as it reflects excellence in our core business strategy of attracting, retaining and developing a sustainable, healthy and vibrant workforce which has safe working at its heart.

“We want to continue to be an employer of choice for people looking to develop their careers, or those who are new to the industry and are interested in our award-winning Apprenticeship schemes. However, this is only a realistic mission if health and safety is foremost in all our minds and practices to make us an industry leading employer. This second President’s Award underpins this commitment.”
